The IDB launched the 21st Century Skills Initiative aimed at promoting skills for work and lifelong learning.

The IDB has developed a program called “Small Adventurers” which targets girls and women and supports deep learning in STEM. Implemented in Colombia, the purpose of this initiative is to encourage girls to develop their passions in math, art, science and technology while creating pathways for their professional development in these fields.

Rise Up is an IDB climate change education initiative that seeks to encourage children and youth to use their creativity to come up with feasible, sustainable strategies to mitigate climate change. It provides schools with a “green school kit”, lesson plans, and video games. These resources are targeted at both teachers and students, transforming kids into brave superheroes with the mission of saving the planet.
