Scholas develops pedagogical programs where youngsters from different schools (ie. different backgrounds, religions, etc) get together to work for one week on a Citizenship program where they put on a shared table their common problems and find solutions. These initiatives are then presented to public authorities.
During the lockdowns, imposed by governments due to the pandemics, Scholas developed a program named “Re-creating virtual spaces of being together: Listening to the voices of youth during and after the pandemic” with the aim of setting up this virtual space where youngsters could gather, listen to each other, share, and express their being, trying to create responses in the context of this global crisis. Through this program, young people were invited to discuss—while they were supported between themselves and by Scholas’ educators—this very personal, and at the same time local and global challenge, engaging and collaborating in the building of a global community, exercising their being as global citizens.
Scholas has launched a Political School named Fratelli Tutti aimed at young people who are developing—or wish to develop—capacity for social, economic and/or political impact in their communities and in the world. We seek to co-create with them a new perspective that can challenge old paradigms and propose new ones from the social and existential peripheries of the planet. Fifty scholars from 34 countries were selected to attend this first experience of a one-year-long program.
