The International Baccalaureate (IB) explicitly includes the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in its curricula, in which hundreds of thousands of students, in over 5,500 schools across 159 countries, are enrolled worldwide. Sustainability is a key feature of their courses especially in Environmental Systems and Societies, Geography, Design Technology, Economics and Business Management.
The IB’s curricular projects create an organic link between in-classroom learning and sustainable action in the community, so that students support environmental sustainability in practical ways, such as recycling plans in communities or creating gardens to help feed people.
The IB’s Innovators Grant for student projects (in partnership with Ashoka) supports Middle Years programme students to become socially and environmentally conscious leaders, innovators and entrepreneurs.
