Activism in Global Education: From Theory to Practice in Higher Education Context

This webinar will explore the role of activism in global education, drawing on recent case studies and research. The session will discuss the intersections of education, social justice, and activism, with insights into how educators and researchers can foster activist engagement in their work.

This event, to be held at 13:00 GMT on the 12 February 2025, will last around 90 minutes and will be hosted via Zoom. This session will be Chaired by ANGEL Advisory Board member La Salete Coelho. The event will be accessible to both English and Spanish speakers via simultaneous translation.

Dr. Òscar O. Santos-Sopena (Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería y Diseño Industrial, Madrid)

Dr. Santos-Sopena is Associate Director for Students Affairs, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship at ETSIDI-UPM and Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Linguistics at the same University. He has taught numerous Cultural Studies and Foreign Languages communication courses at The Catholic University of America (Washington, DC), University of Maryland-College Park (USA), Universidad de las Américas (Mexico), West Texas A&M University (USA), Antonio de Nebrija University, and UNED. His lines of research and teaching revolve around cultural studies, Digital Humanities, and communication processes in intercultural/multicultural contexts.

The series is aimed at Global Education professionals, as well as anyone with an interest in research in the fields of Development Education, Global Citizenship Education, Human Rights Education, Education for Sustainable Development, Education for Peace, and Intercultural Education.
