Building Bridges to Empowerment of Refugee Women and Girls: Education, Dance and Access to Social Protection Services

  • Salvation Army Room: Lower Level New York City USA (map)

Refugee women and girls suffer the trauma of displacement, not only during flight, but even after resettlement, facing challenges of adapting to cultural, social and linguistic differences which become barriers towards empowerment. Keeping with The World Humanitarian Summit (2016) and the New York Declaration on Refugees and Migrants (2016), and the ILO’s recommendations on ‘promoting decent work, social protection and employment opportunities for refugees”, our panel will bring experts, youth activists and academicians to shed light on projects undertaken to educate and enable refugee women and girls with the goal towards empowerment.
