CCREDO – Co-creation of teaching and learning materials for education for sustainable development

Education is often seen as one of the central elements to support the transformation to a more sustainable society. However, teaching and learning for sustainability is complex and teachers are confronted with different challenges. They indicate they often feel badly prepared to integrate education for sustainable development and feel lonely in regards to the different challenges they face.
To overcome these challenges, the initiative "CCREDO" was established. CCREDO is a partnership designed and created thanks to the initiative of Prof. Dr. Katrien Van Poeck and the Centre for Sustainability Studies at Ghent University (UGent). In this partnership Katrien Van Poeck and Lise Janssens (UGent/Hasselt University) work together with different partners and institutions in Belgium who are passionate about education for sustainable development. The goal of CCREDO is to create a partnership to support the co-creation and sharing of high-quality educational materials to teach and learn for sustainability. Via lesson design workshops professional expertise and research expertise are combined so that teachers, teacher trainers, educational researchers, students from teacher trainings and so on can co-create practical useful educational materials.

In this CA Exchange session, Lise Janssens (UGent/UHasselt) will introduce the CCREDO initiative, explain what a lesson design workshop is and illustrate how you can organize lesson design workshops and co-creation initiatives to support education for sustainable development yourself.
