Improving Health of Our Children & Future Generations through Education

Health is equally fundamental to education. Education and health has power to transform the lives of our children and future generations, eliminating poverty, hunger and improving living conditions. Inclusive and transformative education and health cannot be delivered if our children are not safe, well-nourished and healthy, and free from violence and discrimination. There is growing numbers of studies that reflect the inter-relationships between education and health, which necessitates a more comprehensive approach to health-needs in Schools & Universities/ Higher Education Institutions.

A coordinated action across sectors is needed for the greatest impact.

The aim of this ECOSOC Partnership Forum Side Event is to understand the potential of social and economic impacts that quality education and improved health can bring in achieving peaceful co-existence. For policymakers and individuals alike, this means planning for the future, and working together. The initiatives of the Women’s Health and Education Center (WHEC), have been hard at work for the last two decades, to achieve education- and health-for-all. It is at the heart of our projects and programs to focus on eliminating poverty, hunger and achieving the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda.

These initiatives have an unique role to play in strengthening the health and educational systems worldwide. Cultural diversity is now the norm in each and every country.
