Innovating Teacher Education for Sustainable Development (TESD): Collaborative Approach to the Sustainable Development Goals

As part of their Core-to-Core Final Joint Seminar, Okayama University's UNESCO Chair Hiroki Fujii will host a public event and seminar under the title “Innovating Teacher Education for Sustainable Development: Collaborative Approach to the Sustainable Development Goals.”

Teachers play a crucial role the global pursuit of sustainable development and the SDGs through education. Recognizing their critical importance, Okayama University developed the Asia-Pacific Teacher Competency Framework for advancing ESD teacher education in the Asia-Pacific region.

Among UNESCO Chairs are Daniel Fischer from the UNESCO Chair in Higher Education for Sustainable Development, Leuphana University of Lüneburg, Germany; Dorcas Otieno from Kenyatta University, Kenya; Robert J Didham from Inland University of Applied Science, Norway; and Torkar Gregor from University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. York University UNESCO Chairholder Charles Hopkins is invited to join the seminar to develop a comprehensive recommendation document for teacher education for sustainable development.
