The nature of leading a business is changing from the exclusive focus on economic wealth generation to encompass a more holistic purpose, with leaders being expected to make businesses a vehicle for solving the environmental and social challenges the world is facing. Educational institutions have a huge responsibility to prepare responsible leaders to rise to these global challenges in new, integrated ways, and the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide an agenda for the world to pursue.
With a dynamic program and purpose-driven speakers, the 2023 Edition of the PRME Global Forum will bring a global debate on how business education can help advance the sustainable development agenda worldwide. The Principles for Responsible Management Education will gather business school leaders, faculty, students, businesses and sustainable development organizations for a Responsible Management Education Week, on 12 - 16 June 2023, in New York (USA), to advance responsible management education and its impact worldwide. The 11th Edition of PRME Global Forum will be part of this week, taking place on 13 – 14 June 2023, hosted by Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business.
In addition to taking stock of PRME’s growth over the last year and highlighting the ongoing work of the PRME community, the 2023 Global Forum will focus on impact across various session themes: pedagogy, climate, digital, and leadership. The 2023 Edition will be the first in-person forum since 2017, and its plenaries will also be broadcasted to participants worldwide.
About the Impactful Five (i5) Workshop (12 June)
In this 12 June morning workshop, participants will have the opportunity to play, learn, and share with the PRME Community. Learners will be presented with the The Impactful Five (i5) five characteristics that can be used to infuse more joy, meaning, active engagement, social inclusion, and iteration into learning. Participants will be invited to join the global community of PRME (i5) educators actively making changes in their classrooms, business schools, research, and practice. During the session:
The PRME Secretariat and partners tied closely to the (i5) initiative will present the (i5) project and the underlying practices.
PRME educators who piloted the practices during the past year will then share their experience and facilitate active reflection among session participants in order to relate the (i5) practices to their teaching.
All participants of this workshop will be invited to come together to share the foundations, joy, and meaning of the (i5) project in a way that is actively engaging. This session will appeal to those of every discipline who seek professional development in creative pedagogy.
Attendees of this session should leave feeling equipped to share the (i5) framework, experiences, and ethos with their home institution. Resources will be provided to encourage further sharing of the project work. This is our first step towards a PRME Pedagogical Community of Practice rooted in the joy and meaning of (i5) pedagogy and praxis.
