Climate Despair to Repair: Climate Education and COP28

  • Princeton, NJ USA (map)

Global climate talks begin today. COP28 is set against the backdrop of an ever warming and warring world. With our planetary future on the line, students are likely looking at these talks with exasperation. How will the decisions made shape my future? How can I concentrate on school when our world feels defined by chaos and existential risk?

As climate-concerned educators and students, it’s our role to lean into these questions, and help transform students’ climate despair into a mindset of climate repair. We invite you to join us for a conversation with Worldwide Climate and Justice Education Week co-founders David Blockstein and Eban Goodstein about the movement for climate education, and what COP28 spells for the urgent mission to engage all students on climate change.

Join us on Wednesday, December 6th at 8 AM or 12 PM Eastern Standard (New York Time) for a one hour session on climate education, COP28 and Worldwide Climate and Justice Education Week.

What’s World Climate and Justice Education Week?

Worldwide Climate and Justice Education Week is a call for educators, students and institutional leaders to engage their whole educational community in interdisciplinary climate education during the first week of Earth Month (April 1-8, 2024). To address the climate crisis, all of us need to talk about the climate crisis, not just those in sustainability programs. Worldwide Climate and Justice Education Week helps students realize they can make climate-repair their life’s work, no matter their discipline.

These are critical times. And as educators, we have a vital role to play in shaping the next generation of climate repair-people.
