This session is part of an ESD-Net 2030 webinar that will take place on 31 May 2023, 13:00-15:00 CET.

The World’s Largest Lesson (WLL) is a project to raise awareness, support and action for the Sustainable Development Goals throughout the education community – both educators and students alike. By working closely with founding partners such as UNICEF, UNESCO and other international education organisations, the project has engaged millions of teachers and students in understanding the SDGs and applying them to their own local context. This drives social action projects, advocacy efforts and awareness of the wider world. World’s Largest Lesson is a programme from Project Everyone.

Workshop description: In 2023, WLL is embarking on two exciting new projects. We are mapping the world of ESD and evaluating its impact. And we are creating tools to help learners flex their creative muscles and solve social and environmental problems. In this webinar, we will lead interactive discussions with participants to explore these two themes, and invite participants to get more involved in the future!

Target audience: This is a unique opportunity for ESD-Net partners, organizations and educators to get involved with WLL’s work in 2023.

Facilitators:

Alison Bellwood is the founder of the World’s Largest Lesson. She believes that schools should become engines for sustainability in local communities. As institutions, they can represent the ambitions of the Sustainable Development Goals through everything they do, including the provision of project-based learning opportunities for students that deliver real impact. Alison is a creative communications expert with a specific focus on children and education.

Jack Davies is the Senior Manager for the World’s Largest Lesson team. He has 15 years of experience working on education projects, from coaching football to 3-year-olds to brainstorming eco-innovations with Prince William! He is an ambassador for TeachSDGs and UNLEASH Innovation Labs, and a UNITE 2030 Youth Delegate.

Kinvara Jardine Paterson is currently Director of World’s Largest Lesson (WLL) at Project Everyone, where she oversees programme delivery of WLL’s own campaigns as well as running The Happiness Project, a new global social and emotional learning programme delivered in partnership with Unilever, that has reached 135,000 children in its pilot year. Kinvara has nine years’ experience of working in the global education space and specialises in helping young people understand and take action for the climate crisis.
