This side event will showcase youth action towards quality climate education in order to raise ambition from world leaders to take action on climate education. It will also platform real examples, from those doing this in practice, of how young people and ministers are collaborating to integrate climate into education, and how educators are delivering this in their teaching. The MECCE Project will be presenting on policy and practice: sharing understandings of quality climate communication and education (CCE) in policy and practice, and how countries globally are benchmarking, target setting, and progressing in quantity of CCE provision.
The event will also include contributions from the Mock COP campaign coordinator, on the Mock Education Ministers Summit, the youth statement on quality climate education and their work on advancing climate education in their country; Mock EMS Youth Delegates sharing on their work on advancing climate education in their country; a Government minister, speaking on implementing climate education policy at a national level; an educator with the Office for Climate Education, who will provide perspectives from the classroom on teaching climate change and sustainability, and the experiences of and opportunities for this.
