Sustainable Development Goal 4 demands inclusive and equitable quality education and the promotion of lifelong learning opportunities for all. However, the data show that no US state is currently on track to achieve SDG 4 (United States Development Report 2021). There are considerable racial and class disparities in the delivery of education across the country, and a review of seven SDG 4 indicators across all US states reveals that nine are on a decreasing course. Education is at the core of SDSN USA member institutions; we must collectively make progress on this objective to ensure a brighter future for all.
A key component of achieving SDG 4 is ensuring all learners have a high-quality, well-rounded sustainable development education, SDG Target 4.7. The Global Mission 4.7 was established to facilitate global collaboration toward this target, and SDSN USA has launched a Community of Practice to advance this agenda in the United States.
