Virtual film screening & live dialogue: Transforming Education

  • Seoul South Korea (map)

What is innovation in education? What transformative ways do we want to bring to learners and how do we change our education?

UNESCO APCEIU invites educators with a zealous drive to bring constructive changes in education to partake in watching films that disseminate the wisdom and insights of the international experts (Future Learning), as well as showcase the exemplary changes brought by an enthusiastic, dedicated, and visionary educator (Tuning the Student Mind).

We hope you can relate to your own narratives while watching and reflecting on these two films!

How to watch?

The films will be available 15-16 July on SIMA Academy. Visit https://simarama.com/unesco-apceiu-transforming-education and use password SIMA4APCEIU (all uppercase).

Tuning the Student Mind

Tuning the Student Mind (26 min) follows the journey of three students enrolled in Molly Beauregard’s sociology course, where they are experience the impact of her innovative, first-of-its-kind curriculum. Through the subjects’ personal stories, moments in the classroom, and nuanced interviews, the film illustrates how the Tuning the Student Mind approach creates not only good scholars, but also students who develop deep, self-reflective awareness and a sense of inner potential. As the narrative unfolds, we understand how Beauregard’s bold and unconventional approach to identity studies teaches students new methods of inquiry, pushing them to ignite their own creativity and imagination.

Future Learning

Students are the future, but what's the future for students? To arm them with the relevant, timeless skills for our rapidly changing world, we need to revolutionize what it means to learn. Education innovators like Dr. Sugata Mitra (professor at MIT), Sal Khan (founder of Khan Academy) and Dr. Catherine Lucey (Vice Dean of Education at UCSF), are redefining how we engage young minds for a creatively and technologically-advanced future. Which of these educators holds the key for unlocking the learning potential inside every student? (13 min)
